PAIRS Emotional Jug

pairs approach to anger

PAIRS teaches the neutrality of emotions and two general responses:

  1. Suppression, and
  2. Leaking Out or releasing inappropriately.

Suppression leads to depression and to ill health in many ways, according to PAIRS. Leaking out is often very destructive and one of the concepts or tools that is helpful is the Emotional Jug, a

diagram in which the self is viewed as an emotional jug which tends to bottle and restrict expression of emotions.
